The hit song ‘Unwritten’ by Natasha Bedingfield has made a comeback in the UK Top 20 music chart after being featured in the romantic-comedy ‘Anyone But You’, led by stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. The song debuted on the chart at number 18 and has charted for the first time in 19 years after initially being released on 29 November 2004 and reaching number six. Bedingfield shared her excitement in a statement about the song’s resurgence, saying, “Over the years ‘Unwritten’ has somehow become an anthem to sing at the top of your lungs. This makes me the happiest girl in the world as I have always felt that a good pop song is actually something you can belt, like a good football song!”

Bedingfield has had her music featured in movies before, having worked with the director of ‘Anyone But You’, Will Gluck, in the past, including having her song ‘Pocketful of Sunshine’ featured in the joyful scene of ‘Easy A’. Bedingfield was surprised to have her music used once again by Gluck but was thrilled about how her song became a big part of the love story in ‘Anyone But You’. She expressed her love for the final edited version and was pleased with how the song exploded online.

In a previous interview, Bedingfield reminisced about career highlights, including strange compliments she had received from some of her fans such as the Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift who would often run up to her and sing her songs at parties, much to her delight. Although she has had success before, she revealed that it was still exciting to see her song rise back up in the music chart and to know that people still enjoy listening and singing along to it.

Bedingfield is excited for the way her song has been used and how people have reacted, explaining how she was always a big believer in the power of a good pop song that people can belt out loudly. Talking about the song’s re-entry on the chart, she also expressed, “I love the idea of the song inspiring people to make their own new memories with it – singing it on their road trips, as the soundtrack to their lives.” The coming time will tell how long the beloved anthem will remain on the chart
