Harlan Coben’s bestselling novel, “Fool Me Once” has been adapted into a hit Netflix series, starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage, which has left viewers stunned with its unexpected ending. Coben himself has said that he doubts whether anyone would have guessed the dramatic twist that concludes the final episode.
The end of the show reveals that Maya, recently widowed, killed her husband in revenge for him having killed her sister. Maya’s niece Abby and nephew Daniel are also trying to solve the murder of their mother, and the identity of the killer is only revealed at the end of the series.
Coben has acknowledged that viewers might have identified Maya as the murderer, but says that what he calls the show’s “biggest twist” would have caught them completely by surprise. The author has also said that “Fool Me Once” has probably the biggest twist of any of the works that he has produced.
The success of “Fool Me Once” has led Netflix to commission two more series based on Coben’s novels. One of these, based on the novel “Just One Look,” is currently being filmed in Poland. Michelle Keegan, who plays Maya in the series, has revealed that she feared playing the part would be the end of her acting career, confessing that she often feels that she will never work again after finishing a project
