The Armenian nightclub Poligraf will close following a year-long legal battle with local authorities, the club’s management announced. All events at the club were cancelled in January due to unforeseen circumstances. The club’s founders announced through Instagram that they would permanently shutter the club after taking the time to “assess the ecosystem of the sector and realised that it no longer met our beliefs.”
The closure of Poligraf, known for its electronic and house music, has saddened locals who considered the club a cultural hub. The news has also sparked debate on social media about the local government’s handling of the matter.
The Yerevan municipality did not make any official announcement about the closure. However, local government officials had previously accused the club of promoting “immoral values.”
Poligraf opened in 2019 and quickly gained a reputation as one of Armenia’s premier nightclubs, hosting local and international DJs and attracting a diverse crowd.
