The O2 in London was electric this past weekend as Bring Me The Horizon took to the stage for their first of two gigs at the venue, as part of their UK and Ireland tour. Among the highlights of the show was a rendition of ‘Obey’ featuring Yungblud, a collaboration that has already been performed live a number of times before.

Bring Me The Horizon’s most recent EP, ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR’ was released towards the end of 2020, with ‘Obey’ proving a particular fan favourite. Talking to NME about Yungblud, frontman Oli Sykes said: “He’s the kind of artist that rock needs – the kind of rock star that changes a scene. I love him; he lights up a room. He’s the polar opposite to me. I wish I could have that confidence that he has. It’s infectious and that’s why a lot of kids look up to him. Not since Bowie have we had people who are just so unashamedly and genuinely themselves and don’t give fuck or play by the rules.”

Bring Me The Horizon’s tour has also been notable for the departure of keyboardist and songwriter Jordan Fish, who parted ways with the band prior to the start of the tour. Fans have been speculating as to possible future collaborations, including one with Billie Eilish and another with Underoath. Meanwhile, the group have also been previewing new material from their next album, ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’.

Saturday’s show gave fans a chance to experience some of the new music, including ‘Kool-Aid’ which was given its live debut in Cardiff a week prior. Reviewing the Cardiff show, NME said: “Not that you’d know it from tonight’s commanding spectacle. BMTH have always been brash, sometimes to a fault, but in the context of a live show these brazen tendencies are unleashed to thrilling effect…It’s an unrelenting assault on the senses, one that shuffles through visual motifs…with the same wilful abandon as their unpredictable music.”

The band will take to the stage at The O2 again on Sunday night
