Skillet frontman John Cooper hits out at Demi Lovato’s pro-choice song ‘Swine’: “It encapsulates so much evil”

In a recent interview, Skillet frontman John Cooper spoke out about abortion, taking aim at Demi Lovato’s pro-choice song ‘Swine’. Cooper criticised the song, stating that it “encapsulates so much evil” and that it provides a strong pro-life argument. He asserted that people are not killing their babies because they cannot afford to take care of them, but because they want the freedom to have sex with anyone, anywhere, and without using birth control. He went on to describe this as “pure narcissism” and “pure evil”.

Cooper’s comments about Lovato’s song came during a broader discussion of the prevalence of abortion in the United States, which he described as “absolutely crazy”. He cited statistics indicating that over 800,000 babies are aborted each year in the US, which amounts to over 25% of all babies born in the country. Cooper went on to criticise the entertainment industry, stating that many celebrities “cheer on” abortion and that parents need to help their children recognise the problematic messaging that is sometimes promoted by public figures.

This is not the first time that Cooper has made controversial statements. Last year, he faced backlash after comparing Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s Grammy performance of ‘WAP’ to Adolf Hitler’s speeches. He has also criticised the political stance of the band Rage Against The Machine, questioning the authenticity of their beliefs.

Despite the controversy surrounding Cooper’s comments, he remains a prominent figure in the Christian rock community. His band Skillet has sold millions of records worldwide and has won numerous awards for their music. Cooper has also gained a following for his outspoken views on social and political issues, even if those views are sometimes met with criticism and disdain from those who disagree with him
