Ruf Dug, a DJ and host for NTS, has announced the opening of a new pop-up listening bar called Rainy Heart in Stretford, Manchester. The bar, located in Stretford Mall near Stretford Canteen, will operate for two weeks and feature local DJs from the area. Unlike most bars, Rainy Heart will be an alcohol-free space.
Ruf Dug made the announcement through Instagram saying, “FUCKIN HELL I’M OPENING MY OWN GAFF…Only for two weeks tho.” He went on to reveal that he has always had a dream of opening his own listening bar and shared his idea with another dad at his child’s school.
Rainy Heart opened on January 18 and will remain open only on Thursdays through Sundays until January 28. The bar features Ruf Dug’s own soundsystem which he has had for some time.
This pop-up bar is not the first listening bar to be opened in the UK. Recently, JUMBI, a listening bar in Peckham, was granted a 2AM license. Both Rainy Heart and JUMBI offer an environment for people to listen to music without the distractions of alcohol and chatter that typically accompanies a night out at a bar
