Christopher Reeve’s children have not seen ‘The Flash’, had no involvement in cameo

Christopher Reeve’s children have revealed in a recent interview that they never saw him in the film “The Flash” despite his controversial cameo. The children were not involved in the making of the movie. The three children, Will, Matthew, and Alexandra, made these revelations in an interview during the 2024 Sundance Film Festival with a reporter from Variety. They claim that they had nothing to do with the inclusion of Reeve’s character, Superman, in the 2023 film, and added that they hadn’t even watched it.

In the interview, Will, Matthew, and Alexandra talked about their father’s life and their involvement in a new documentary entitled “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.” Alexandra described this documentary as a “beautiful gift” that portrayed the highs and lows and the public facade and what happened at home. Matthew also expressed his joy at seeing archival footage that he had never seen before. He disclosed that there was a rare Australian interview in 1977 that he never knew existed until it was uploaded to YouTube and which he described as ‘pretty cool.’

When asked what Christopher Reeve’s most underrated role was, Will explained that his dad was especially proud of his role as Congressman Jack Lewis in the 1993 film “Remains Of The Day,” which starred Anthony Hopkins. Will further said that his father was pleased with his performance in the movie and considered it an essential role in the film. Although his father was proud of his role as Superman, he would have chosen “Remains of the Day” given the choice.

Reeve’s cameo in the film has been one of a handful of cameos that were not directly related to the actors or were considerably altered. Nicolas Cage previously reflected on the disparities between the portrayal of his appearance in the Flash film and what he had anticipated. He has expressed his dismay at having to fight giant spiders instead of what he anticipated.

“The Flash” received positive reviews, with critics praising its action-packed and fast-paced story and emotionally moving plot. Despite this, Christopher Reeve’s children said in the interview that they were yet to see the film. The documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting distribution
