Ben Howard has unveiled a new collaborative track with Aaron Dessner of The National. The song, titled Rumble Strip, was actually an outtake from Ben Howard’s album Collections From the Whiteout and was only previously available on the deluxe vinyl edition of the album. Rumble Strip was produced by Dessner at his Long Pond Studios in Upstate, New York.
The accompanying music video for the track features behind the scenes footage from Howard’s recording sessions at Long Pond. The video was directed by Mickey Smith.
Ben Howard’s last album, Is It?, was released last year and discussed his experience of suffering from a pair of mini-strokes. Howard is due to embark on a North American tour next year in support of the album, with the tour kicking off in Montreal in July 2024.
Aaron Dessner, meanwhile, recently recalled how Taylor Swift wrote the smash-hit single Willow from her album evermore in less than ten minutes. Speaking to People magazine, Dessner revealed that Taylor instantly knew she needed to make another album once she’d written the song
