A teenager was stabbed to death in Birmingham city centre on a Saturday afternoon. The victim (17), who hasn’t been named yet, was found with fatal injuries at around 3:30 pm in Victoria Square, said the West Midlands Police Department. After getting rushed to the hospital, the teenager was declared dead. The police have now opened a murder investigation and are treating it as an isolated incident.
The officials urged eyewitnesses, who could submit any photos or videos, to contact them through the Major Incident Public Portal to help with the investigation process. The West Midlands police department reassured that a visible police presence would be maintained throughout the city center area to minimize any potential threat, which the news of the incident caused.
Ch Insp James Spencer, from Birmingham Local Policing Area, stated that a dedicated team of detectives are investigating the murder “to identify, and arrest, whoever did this.” Spencer also expressed his condolences for the victim’s loved ones and added that “the life of a 17-year-old boy has tragically been taken away, and all our thoughts are with his family and friends at this awful time.”
Further updates regarding the incident and the investigation are expected to come up as the officials continue to examine the incident’s details. It is a dark reminder of the violent incidents that have taken place in Birmingham city and other major areas in the UK
