In a recent interview with GQ, actor Barry Keoghan discussed his audition for Steven Spielberg’s 2018 sci-fi film Ready Player One. Keoghan recalls feeling intimidated during his screen test due to Spielberg’s presence and the fact that the director was holding a camcorder. Despite not getting the part, Keoghan expressed his admiration for Spielberg and his hopes to work with him in the future.
Currently starring in Emerald Fennell’s black comedy drama Saltburn, Keoghan spoke about his reservations filming the final scene in which his character dances through the estate naked. Keoghan admitted feeling uncomfortable at first but found comfort in the environment Fennell had created to tell the story.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the artist whose song played during Keoghan’s dance scene, recently expressed her surprise and amusement at the scene in an interview with NME. The film follows university student Oliver Quick as he orchestrates the murder of an entire family to inherit their estate.
While rehearsing for the role of Oliver, Keoghan stated he was sympathetic to the character’s actions and found the story fascinating. The actor also said the ending of the film “totally felt right” and embodied Oliver’s ownership of the estate
