Police in the UK are investigating after four people, including two young girls, were found dead in a house in Costessey, near Norwich. Officers said they were called to the property at around 7:15am on Friday, 14 January, where they discovered the bodies of the two girls, a 36-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. The man has been named locally as Bartlomiej Kuczynski.
Police have referred themselves to the independent watchdog over their handling of a 999 call received from the home at 6am. They said post-mortem examinations would be held to establish the cause of the deaths of the man and woman, with tests on the girls to be carried out on Wednesday. Det Ch Insp Chris Burgess described the incident as “tragic.”
The local rector, James Pinto, said his churches in Costessey had opened on Saturday to provide people with an opportunity to “light a candle, pray, talk and support one another.” He added: “we wanted to do something that provided people with an opportunity to come together.”Emma Isaac, who lives on the estate, said the news had “really shaken everyone up.”
The Independent Office for Police Conduct, which has been informed of the case, said it would “assess the level of our involvement” following the referral.Police have said the visiting woman was not a permanent resident of the Costessey property and that they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, which has shocked the local community
