Actor Jason Momoa has expressed his desire to appear in a critically-acclaimed film that would be appreciated by the awards circuit. Momoa, who has appeared in a number of blockbusters and hosted Shark Week, feels that he has yet to make a truly significant project.
Speaking to Variety about his new show On The Roam, Momoa noted that he is not particularly skilled at any one thing, but enjoys doing many different things. He is currently focused on comedy projects, having appeared twice on SNL and starred in Slumberland. However, he wants to branch out into more serious roles in the future.
Although Momoa is enthusiastic about comedy, he told Variety that he hopes to one day take on a more prestigious role: “I’ve just never been a part of movies that — none of my movies are going to the awards. I’m not really that guy. So maybe one day it’d be nice to do one of those kinds of movies, where it’s a really, really good movie.”
Most recently, Momoa starred in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom alongside Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Randall Park. Despite this success, Momoa has hinted that his future in the role is in doubt
