Doja Cat’s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, has filed a temporary restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, accusing him of verbally and physically abusing both herself and the rapper. According to TMZ, Sawyer has had previous restraining orders against Raman which have since expired. Sawyer alleges that Raman has physically assaulted Doja Cat, resulting in her teeth being knocked out, as well as causing cuts and bruises to her own person.
Sawyer further claimed that Raman has engaged in theft and destruction of her property, along with making degrading and demeaning comments towards her daughter. Sawyer indicated that she has been physically abused and threatened multiple times by Raman, with the most recent incident happening earlier this month. A court-ordered protection has been granted to Sawyer with a hearing for a permanent restraining order to follow, but Amala (Doja Cat) has yet to be granted protection. The judge has instructed her to file her own separate request for protection.
Doja Cat has not yet released a statement about the allegations against her brother. However, she was recently announced as one of the headliners for Coachella’s upcoming festival lineup this year. The rapper, whose real name is Amala Dlamini, is expected to perform alongside other artists such as No Doubt, Tyler the Creator, and Lana Del Rey.
These recent allegations against Raman place a significant strain on the already existing familial issues between the rapper and her brother.
