A DJ booth at an underground nightclub in Rotterdam has caught the internet’s attention thanks to a TikTok video from Dutch DJ duo Mr. Belt & Wezol. The hydraulic-powered booth at Toffler can move along the length of the venue and allows organisers to adapt the space according to the size and vibe of the event. It is designed to cater for both intimate parties and larger 600-capacity crowds.
The booth has become something of a landmark at Toffler, which has been welcoming famous DJs since it opened in 2011. However, Mr. Belt & Wezol’s video has sparked a renewed interest in the movable DJ equipment thanks to the pair’s growing international reputation. The video shows the DJs explaining how moving the booth closer to the front of the dancefloor can help get the party started.
The system, which has been designed especially for the former pedestrian tunnel the club calls home, is described by a Toffler spokesperson as a “global premiere”. The spokesperson adds that the movement of the booth is so smooth that it hardly notices, and is barely perceptible on the crowded dancefloor. They explain that the low ceilings of the venue and the LED tubes located in them create a “proper club night” that keeps crowds dancing until the early hours.
Toffler is situated just a short walk from Rotterdam Central Train Station, in the heart of the city’s central business district. The club has remained a fixture of Rotterdam’s night scene for a decade and has hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music during that time.
