Adrianne Lenker, the vocalist and guitarist of the band Big Thief, has announced her sixth solo record titled “Bright Future”, and has also released a new single called “Sadness As A Gift”. The album will include the original recording of “Vampire Empire”, which was previously released by Big Thief last year. The new album is set to be released on March 22 via 4AD.
The new song, “Sadness As A Gift” is heavily inspired by country and folk. The single has gained quite an appreciation since its release. In a statement, Lenker explained that the new album was written with some of her favourite people. She added, “I think the thing these people have in common, they are some of the best listeners I know musically. They have extreme presence.”
In addition to the album announcement, Lenker has also released the track listing of the album and announced a series of tour dates in Europe, UK, and US. The album features 12 tracks, including “Ruined” and “Cell Phone Says”. Lenker will begin her tour in March 2024, starting with the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lenker last released music in 2020 with ‘Songs’ and ‘Instrumentals’. The album received a four-star review by NME. The review said, “What Lenker’s most recent work reveals is that, like the rest of us, she is trying to find beauty and appreciation in the small moments, marvelling at her surroundings while mourning the current moment.”
