After Ebon Moss-Bachrach won the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards for his role in The Bear, Taylor Swift sent her congratulations to Moss-Bachrach via Twitter. During his speech, Moss-Bachrach thanked Swift for her reference to one of his character’s dramatic moments where he tries to acquire tickets for her concert. The character eventually breaks through his obstacles and sings ‘Love Story’, triumphantly driving around the city.
Swift responded with a simple message of congratulations and emojis. Moss-Bachrach also thanked his scene partner Olivia Colman and expressed his passionate love for playing the character of Richie on The Bear. He mentioned how it was a beautiful experience to take a man from a tough place into the light and play joy. The Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award at the Critics’ Choice Awards is Moss-Bachrach’s second win of the 2024 award season.
The Bear won three other awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White’s performance, and Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Ayo Adebiri’s performance. Oppenheimer dominated the film categories and brought home eight awards, including Best Director for Christopher Nolan and Best Picture. Barbie took home six awards, including Best Comedy and Best Song for ‘I’m Just Ken’, and generated numerous memes on the internet due to Ryan Gosling’s bemused reaction.
The Bear tied with Beef in the television categories, taking home four awards, while Succession won three awards. NME ranked the second season of The Bear as the top television show of 2023, praising how the series exemplified intensity and quietness, stating that “The genius of The Bear’s second season was found in the quieter moments.
