Rapper Kid Cudi has made headlines for his innovative marketing strategy for his latest album, ‘Insano’. The rapper has erected giant statues of himself in a number of cities around the world. The 33-foot statue first made an appearance last week in Paris, before popping up in Long Beach, California since the album’s release last Friday.
Kid Cudi’s ninth studio album includes a number of collaborations with other prominent rappers such as ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, Lil Yachty, Lil Wayne, Young Thug and a posthumous guest feature from XXL Tentacion. The album marks the final release under his contract with Republic Records and includes chart-topping singles,‘Porsche Topless’ and ‘At the Party’.
The City of Long Beach addressed the giant statue that appeared in its area in a tweet: “Earlier today, the City of Long Beach learned that a 33-foot statue of musical artist Kid Cudi arrived in Alamitos Bay. The artist is visiting #LongBeach today for a private promotional event at a local business & the statue is part of the event”.
The rapper has recently announced that he is “nearing the end” of his music career and is set to release one final album before retiring. He has also announced his memoir, ‘CUDI’, which is due to be released in September 2024.
Explaining his inspiration behind the memoir, Kid Cudi shared on social media: “Going through my life and the journey it’s been so far is bringing me so much peace just talking about certain things and how they made me feel”. He added that he hopes the memoir will inspire others “to bet on yourself and strive to live life as a better human on this planet and spread love.”
