Liverpool’s Jamie Webster is set to perform at the upcoming charity DJ Battle in Liverpool, alongside mayors Steve Rotheram and Andy Burnham. The music battle takes place on February 2, 2024, at Camp and Furnace, in an effort to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in the Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester. The line-up for the event includes a range of famous musicians and actors, such as Rebecca Ferguson, Peter Hooton, John Barnes, and Peter Reid.
As the mayors go head-to-head on the decks, the charity event will mark a round-three rematch, following their first online clash during the pandemic and a follow-up in-person event in Manchester last December, which raised over £25,000 and won ‘Leading Live Event of the Year’ at the 2023 This is Manchester Awards. All proceeds from the night will support initiatives to tackle homelessness and bring an end to rough sleeping.
Jamie’s performance coincides with the release of his new album ’10 For The People’, which also debuts on February 2. The artist has already achieved two top ten albums, with his most recent, Moments, ranking at number three in the UK Official Album Charts. Early-bird tickets for the February fixture are currently available, and interested parties are encouraged to follow the charities’ and mayors’ social media accounts for further information.
The work of the mayors is part of a joint effort to tackle the issue of homelessness across the two regions. Mayor Rotheram is leading a pioneering new approach to tackling homelessness in the Liverpool City Region, involving the Housing First programme, which has helped hundreds of people out of homelessness and into their own homes, with a tenancy sustainability rate of 90%. The region’s Assertive Outreach Service has also assisted hundreds of people who were rough sleeping or at risk of homelessness by helping them into temporary accommodation and providing health-related support. Likewise, Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity has been fighting homelessness since its peak in 2017, with the A Bed Every Night initiative supporting nearly 6,000 people since 2020, with 2,910 in the last year alone
