Dua Lipa has given fans insights into her upcoming album, revealing that the “psychedelic-pop-infused” record draws inspiration from various musicians, including Primal Scream, Massive Attack, Oasis, Blur, Moby and Gorillaz. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the singer told journalist Brittany Spanos that the new album is a “tribute to U.K. rave culture” and incorporates diverse sounds that maintain a “psychedelic throughline.” She added that the album aims to capture “the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen.”

During the interview, Lipa also revealed that she was initially nervous when she had to collaborate with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. However, she later realized that Parker was just like her, and the two began working together with Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, and Tobias Jesso Jr on eight out of the 11 tracks on the album. Parker called the collaboration “a genius move.”

Furthermore, the singer finds it hard to open up and bring new people into her creative world, especially as her career progresses. “As things get bigger, you get more scared to open up and be vulnerable and sit down in a room and just speak from the heart,” she stated. Nevertheless, Lipa is now done with the album and preparing to tour, with a performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards with Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo already lined up, as well as being part of the shortlist for Best Original Song at the 2024 Academy Awards.

Lipa’s upcoming album is hotly anticipated, and fans will soon be able to hear the psychedelic pop sounds that Lipa was inspired to create from her love of different genres and artists from various decades. The album is set for release soon, and fans will be anxiously waiting for their opportunity to listen to Lipa’s fresh new sound
