Ariana Grande shares behind-the-scenes footage of working on ‘yes, and?’ with Max Martin

Pop star Ariana Grande has shared a behind-the-scenes clip of herself recording her new single ‘yes, and?’ with super-producer Max Martin. The video shows her singing the chorus several times while Martin can be heard giving her pointers. Grande also released the single and accompanying video on Friday, which sees her confront her critics by bringing them into a room and giving them a live performance of the song.

‘Yes, and?’ is Grande’s first single since her 2020 album ‘Positions’ and will lead her forthcoming seventh studio album, which has yet to be announced. The song sees a departure from her usual sound and features a house-inspired instrumental that draws comparisons to Madonna’s ‘Vogue’. It was written and produced by Grande, Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh.

While the title of the album and further details about the project have yet to be confirmed, Grande has hinted that Salmanzadeh is involved. He’s previously produced some of Grande’s biggest hits including ‘Problem’, ‘Bad Idea’ and ‘Breathin’, and was thanked on the sleeve of her 2020 album ‘Positions’. Grande will also undertake a world tour in support of the forthcoming album, beginning in Las Vegas on 14 March 2022. The tour will take in North American and European dates before moving to South America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Tickets are available now.

Described by NME as a “bitingly catchy and self-aware comeback”, ‘Yes, and?’ showcases Grande in her “truest form”, according to the NME review. “A flawed but honest human being, seeking to own her narrative and move forward,” adding that it “may not be an ‘Into You’ or ‘No Tears Left To Cry’, the type of big Grande singles that can shift your entire world for three adrenaline-pumping minutes.”
