American rock band Tool played their first US arena show in support of their most recent album, “Fear Inoculum” at Madison Square Garden, New York on January 12. The band played their first live version of their 1993 debut album “Undertow” track “Flood” since 2011. The band performed 13 songs in total, ending the show with their 2001 hit “Schism”, which is included in their third album “Lateralus”.
Tool will start their UK and European arena tour at the O2 Arena in London on May 24, continuing to Manchester’s AO Arena and Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena. The band has indicated that they have been working on new material and will begin recording after the tour. However, Danny Carey, the drummer, speculates that their new material is likely to emerge as an EP rather than a full-length album.
Maynard James Keenan, lead vocalist of Tool, revealed that he had earned a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Tool marked their first shows since the release of “Fear Inoculum” with a show at Sacramento on January 10. The album was produced by Joe Barresi, who has worked with bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, The Melvins, and Soundgarden
