Matt Smith has seemingly revealed when ‘House Of The Dragon’ season two will arrive

Actor Matt Smith, who stars in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, has indicated that the second season of the series is likely to air in August of this year. Speaking during an interview with the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Smith revealed that he had not yet seen any footage from the upcoming season, but confirmed that work had been completed. A teaser trailer for season two arrived in November 2021, announcing that the new season would be available to view during the early summer of 2024.

In December 2021, Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin revealed that work had already begun on both the third and fourth seasons of House of the Dragon. Writing on his blog, Martin explained that he spent two days with showrunner Ryan Condal and the show’s writing team during which they laid the groundwork for future episodes.

Despite the staggered release schedule for House of the Dragon, the show has received positive reviews for its first season. NME awarded it four stars, praising the programme’s storyline with its machinations for power and violence. The review found that the series was a considerable achievement as a prequel that knew how to tell a story that had yet to be written.

As the airdate approaches, audiences will no doubt be eager to catch up with Daemon Targaryen, Rhaenyra Targaryen, Viserys Targaryen, and the rest of the compelling ensemble cast that populate the series. With production on season three and season four already underway, it seems certain that viewers will have plenty of intrigue to enjoy in the years to come
