Kristen Stewart has teased fans that her upcoming film, Love Lies Bleeding will shock audiences due to its sex scenes. During an interview with Variety, Stewart discussed her journey to becoming a queer icon and her various roles throughout her career. The film, which is co-produced by A24 and Film4 and directed by Rose Glass, features a romance between aspiring bodybuilder Jackie (played by Katy O’Brien) and butch lesbian Lou (Stewart), who works at the gym where Jackie trains.
Stewart explained that Love Lies Bleeding allowed her to play qualities that she doesn’t usually get to portray on-screen, and how these qualities were glorified and found attractive. The movie does include several sex scenes, including a bathroom fling that Variety says will “scandalize” Sundance attendees. However, despite the scenes, Stewart says the film is different as it will not feature a typical sex scene that audiences usually see in movies. The actress added, “all you ever [usually] see is a dress coming up and a head going down under.”
Earlier this year, Kristen Stewart admitted that she “hated” making the 2019 remake of Charlie’s Angels. The actress, who appeared in the film alongside Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, explained that when she first signed onto the project, she had expected the film to be different than what it turned out to be.
Love Lies Bleeding will have its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Kavanaugh, one of the production companies behind the film, has a history of producing award-winning films, including Little Women and The Social Network. Fans are eagerly anticipating the film, given Stewart’s recent career-defining performances in critically acclaimed films such as Seberg and Personal Shopper
