Brooklyn-based Model/Actriz have recently found their place among the noise-rock genre with their debut full-length album Dogsbody, released via True Panther. The band has gained a significant momentum with their unique blend of pummeling beats and transhuman machinery. The band’s style is a far cry from the electro-pop sounds of NYC indie sleaze, instead, they explore a more hedonistic aesthetic with a focus on lust and sexuality. Their music has a dark and gritty soundscape, but the band members have a sense of humor that shines through in their music.

The band received praise from Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten, who admires their high-energy live performances and called it “crazy and fucking cool.” Model/Actriz also stopped by Rough Trade East for a visit and left behind a limited crop of signed Dogsbody LPs, which are available for purchase online.

During their visit, the band members opened up about their favorite albums. Tom Waits’ Rain Dogs, Madonna’s Music, Björk’s Post, and Purple Mountains’ self-titled album were all on the list. Aaron chose Purple Mountains, saying that it was a combination of all the disparate elements that made it a great example of contrast. Ruben admired the bizarre and twisted elements in Madonna’s Music and Cole loved Kylie Minogue’s career.

Model/Actriz is a band that defies simple categorization and labels. They bring a unique blend of sounds and influences that make them stand out in the music scene. Their debut album and live performances showcase their raw energy and talent, and their sense of humor adds a new dimension to their music. Signed copies of Dogsbody are available for purchase both in-store and online
