Scots band Cocteau Twins’ eighth album ‘Milk & Kisses’ is set to be officially re-released. The album was first released in March 1996 by Fontana Records in the UK. The re-release is now available for purchase and presented in audiophile 140gm vinyl by Proper Records, in partnership with Universal Music Recordings. The labels have paid close attention to the detail of the original UK first pressings. Some of the songs that gained popularity include ‘Tishbite’, ‘Violane’, and ‘Eperdu’.
The band reconvened two years later with plans to record their next full-length album, but the sessions fell through, leading them to produce no further albums. The band was founded in Grangemouth, Scotland in 1979 by guitarist Robin Guthrie and bassist Will Heggie. Cocteau Twins was later completed by Fraser, who was dating Guthrie at the time. They became renowned for producing a unique ethereal sound.
Following Heggie’s exit in 1983, the band spent a brief time without him before Simon Raymonde joined. The band’s style inspired a number of musicians including Prince, Annie Lennox, Slowdive, Lush, and My Bloody Valentine, among others. The group signed to 4AD in 1982 and went on to produce six albums including the classic ‘Heaven Or Las Vegas.’
Last September, the band’s lead vocalist, Elizabeth Fraser had an asteroid named after her by the International Astronomical Union. The Union assured that the asteroid did not pose a threat to humankind and would not collide with the Earth for millions of years. Cocteau Twins played their last show in the year 1997. Fraser and her partner Damon Reece joined together to form a new music group named Sun’s Signature and released a self-titled debut EP in 2022
