Dave Grohl has recently revealed that he is a long-time fan of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s song “Murder on the Dancefloor.” Although the pop-disco track was first released in 2001, it has recently found a new audience after being featured in an already-infamous nude scene in the hit film “Saltburn.” The song has now broken into the Billboard 100 in the US for the first time, in addition to staying at Number Eight in the UK charts.

In a recent interview, Ellis-Bextor shared that Grohl had once told her that his family adores the song, and she encouraged him to share this publicly. Earlier this week, Ellis-Bextor spoke to NME about the track’s resurgence, as well as the experience of watching “Saltburn” with her mother and teenage son. The film was rated of a mature nature, and Ellis-Bextor admitted to having a few moments where she “had her head in her hands.”

While her teenage son enjoyed the movie, Ellis-Bextor admitted to being worried about him watching it with his mother and grandmother. The star-studded event helped Ellis-Bextor grow in popularity, and she will be embarking on a European headline tour in March. In addition to this, she will be supporting Nile Rodgers and Chic on a UK and Ireland tour in June and July before joining The Human League on the road at the end of the year.

Despite having previously released the song in 2001, Ellis-Bextor is surprised at how the song has managed to find a new audience; to them, it’s a completely new song, and she’s excited to continue the momentum. However, she is also grateful for the original fans who helped the song reach Number Two in the UK singles chart. If recent events are anything to go by, the song may continue its popularity surge and remain a hit for the foreseeable future.
