André 3000 has teased an upcoming collaboration with the musical collective known as SAULT. During an interview with Gilles Peterson for BBC 6 Music, the OutKast rapper revealed that he had been introduced to the group while they were in their “secrecy stage”. Since then, André has confirmed that they have been working together in the studio, saying, “we hung out, went to the studio, messed around a bit… yeah.” Although no music has been released yet, André has expressed his excitement about working on something “more substantial” with SAULT in the near future.
While SAULT remains anonymous, their unique mix of R&B, gospel, house and disco has garnered quite a following. The collective recently made their live debut at Drumsheds in London with performances from artists such as Cleo Sol, Little Simz, and Michael Kiwanuka. Towards the end of 2023, André 3000 released his first-ever solo album titled New Blue Sun. The album consists entirely of solo instrumental flute tracks, marking a departure from his previous work with OutKast.
Both André 3000 and SAULT have garnered significant attention within the music industry for their innovative style and willingness to break from convention.
