Carol Vorderman, former host of popular quiz show Countdown, has announced that she will be hosting a new three-hour programme on LBC every Sunday. The programme will be “packed with opinion and intelligent debate” and Vorderman has vowed to use her voice to “cause a commotion”. The 63-year-old presenter left her weekly BBC Radio Wales show in November after breaking the broadcaster’s social media guidelines with vocal attacks against the UK government.
Vorderman had said at the time that she was “not prepared to lose my voice” after the guidelines were introduced. She will now be taking her voice to LBC, which describes itself as having a “phenomenal stable of powerful voices”. Vorderman has been a guest presenter on the station in recent weeks and is excited to return to a medium that she loves.
The station says that Vorderman will be “tackling the biggest stories and issues that matter to LBC’s audience across the UK” and will not be afraid to say things that others won’t. She will also be “holding the corrupt to account without fear or favour”. Her outspoken criticism of the UK government on social media has seen her call for them to “be utterly dismantled at the next election”.
Vorderman was a popular presenter on BBC Radio Wales for four years, hosting a Saturday programme. However, the station’s social media guidelines for presenters caused her to leave the show. She is now excited to join the team at LBC and to use her voice to cause a stir and tackle the biggest issues facing the UK today.
