South African DJ and music producer Black Coffee has been involved in a “severe travel accident on a flight” whilst travelling to a show in Argentina. The accident occurred during the flight to the city of Mar del Plata. Black Coffee has suffered several injuries as a result of the accident. Black Coffee was scheduled to play Day Zero in Tulum, Mexico, on January 12 and a show in Istanbul alongside Pete Tong on January 13 this week.
A statement on Black Coffee’s social media page said “The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries. We can confirm he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team.” His team has also confirmed that he is now receiving the “best possible” medical treatment and is “optimistic” about his recovery, asking media and fans to respect his privacy at this time.
Black Coffee won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2020 with his album, ‘Subconsciously.’ He has helped to promote South African dance music on the global stage and is one of the country’s most well-known DJs.
