Liverpool schools have achieved worldwide recognition at the Educate Awards 2023, with three schools receiving top prizes for their outstanding performance. The event, now in its 12th year, focuses on celebrating hard work and creativity in the education sector in a variety of categories, including Sports, STEM, and Performing Arts, while also recognising the teachers and support staff for their contributions.
The awards not only acknowledge key players in their respective fields but also highlight the values of strategic leadership among schools and colleges. The winning Liverpool schools were Abbot’s Lea School, Whitefield Primary School, and Gateacre School. Employability Solutions Ltd was also amongst the winners, receiving an award for Most Inspirational Alternative Provision.
Abbot’s Lea School won Best SEND Provision and Mental Health and Wellbeing, Whitefield Primary School won The Most Inspirational Primary School, and Gateacre School won The Most Inspirational Secondary School. Gateacre School was a runner-up in the Innovative and Creative Literacy category, and Catherine Chapman, a staff member at Gateacre, was a runner-up in the Best Teacher category. Meanwhile, St John Bosco Arts College made it to the runner-up position in the Best Sixth Form category.
Kim O’Brien, the founder of the Educate Awards, explained that the competition was fierce, and the outcome was very close. All the finalists and runners-up deserved credit for their hard work and contributions, she said.
The achievements of the schools’ and colleges’ management, teachers, and support staff highlight the importance of the education sector in nurturing young minds and building bright futures. The hard work and dedication of the educators continue to shape the future of the community, underscoring the crucial link between education and social and economic growth
