A group of 100 young and talented children from 24 different schools across Liverpool recently came together to form the collaborative youth choir, #100VoicesUnited. Led by Resonate Liverpool’s Music Hub, the choir put on an unforgettable performance with the Ukrainian Children’s Choir in front of 8,000 people at Wembley Arena. The audience was blown away by their harmonious, united singing, resulting in a standing ovation. The performance was so special that ITV invited the group to record a special performance for its New Year’s Eve National Lottery Big Bash, which made the choir’s year all the more extraordinary.

The past year has been full of twists and turns for #100VoicesUnited. The group gave performances for the King and Queen, toured Strawberry Field, Liverpool Hope University, and performed at the Eurovision Village to captivated audiences. The trip to London for the ITV recording was a fitting conclusion to what had truly been an extraordinary year.

All credit goes to the teachers, choir directors, parents, and schools who made it possible for the choir to perform so magnificently, and most importantly, to the talented young performers themselves. The way in which they came together as a choir speaks volumes about the power of music to unite people. Resonate, the Music Education Hub for Liverpool, deserves recognition for its role in facilitating the choir and helping to make music education accessible to young people across Liverpool, Warrington, and Halton.

The performances by #100VoicesUnited this year have made Liverpool proud of its gifted young people. They have reminded us all of the collective power of young people to inspire others and make your heart swell with emotion. As we move forward, let us not forget the incredible contribution music makes to our lives, as well as the vital role played by music education in nurturing young talent
