Bridgend: Two charged over babies' bodies found in Wildmill

Following the discovery of two babies’ bodies in a house on November 26, 2022, two people have been charged. The bodies were discovered on the property of Maes-y-Felin in Wildmill, Bridgend. Zilvinas Ledovskis, aged 48 and Egle Zilinskaite, aged 30, have been charged with concealing the birth of a child and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body, both of which are punishable offenses in the UK.

The accused will appear on trial on February 20th, 2023, at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, which is where the sentencing for the aforementioned offenses will take place. There is no indication of accomplices in this case, and the investigation appears to be complete as of now. It has yet to be released if any particular motive was present for the accused to have concealed the babies’ bodies and not given them a decent burial.

The incident has caused commotion throughout the local Bridgend community, where the house in which the bodies were found has become a quiet shrine for the deceased children. Flowers adorn the garden in memoriam, and many have shared their condolences and grief over the tragic deaths of the babies on the property. The case remains open for investigation and all will keep their ear to the ground to see what the final verdict will be when it comes to the binding trial.

Bridgend police have declined to comment on the matter outside of these public statements, saying that they want to keep as close to the facts as possible and not to tip off any other potential accomplices should there be any that still aren’t known about. It’s a tragedy such as this that has shaken the local community, and it’s still a mystery as to why the accused did what they did. It’s mostly a waiting game before all the cards are laid out on the table, and the full extent of what happened in this case will be known
