David Tennant, best known for his role in Doctor Who, will be the host for the upcoming Bafta Film Awards. Richard E Grant, last year’s host, co-presented with Alison Hammond. Tennant will replace him this time.

Tennant, who played the 14th Time Lord in the show’s 60th-anniversary episodes, recently returned to Doctor Who. Tennant has made several appearances on television, including Broadchurch and Good Omens. Jane Millichip, Bafta’s Chief Executive, expressed delight at Tennant’s selection, saying that the organization was ecstatic. Tennant is deserving of the love of both British and international audiences, and his warmth, charm and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show, Millichip added.
