A fatal car accident occurred on the B4526 near Crays Pond in Oxfordshire, which resulted in the death of an 87-year-old woman. The crash occurred at around 5:25 PM on Tuesday when the driver’s car collided with a fallen tree trunk. The fallen trees were caused by Storm Henk which had been causing extreme weather conditions in the area.
According to the Thames Valley Police, the elderly woman was driving a red Smart Forfour near the junction with Eastfield Lane when the incident occurred. The police have reported that they had previously received a report about the fallen tree about 90 minutes before the crash, resulting in the force referring itself to the police watchdog.
The police have asked witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the area to come forward to assist in their investigation. Furthermore, Thames Valley Police offered their condolences to the family of the elderly woman and revealed that they were receiving specialist help.
