Glasgow’s Music Space set to run creative workshops for 16 to 30-year-olds

Music Space, a Glasgow initiative, will offer creative workshops for 16 to 30-year-olds this year. There are six workshops available, including Sufist sound design with Riah, Murray Collier’s approaches to recording, DJing for beginners with RA city manager Feena, funding advice with the Counterflows team, Ray Aggs’ decolonising the guitar, and Inge Thomson’s field recording. All equipment will be provided, including the DJ workshop with Feena from Miss World, which will cover basic DJing skills such as track selection, beat matching and EQs.

Music and arts festival Counterflows founded the programme, supported by Creative Scotland. The recording workshop with Murray Collier will be divided into two parts, with participants exploring different approaches to sound recording and experimenting with production using analog and digital methods. Starting on January 20 and running until April 6, the sessions are free to participants aged 16 to 30 years old and based in Glasgow, who face barriers to creative opportunities. All travel costs to and from the workshops will also be reimbursed.

The course has a limited capacity, and enrolment will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested applicants can apply to attend the workshops through the Music Space website. Music Space is committed to promoting creative opportunities for young people, and the program’s workshops aim to encourage aspiring music and sound professionals and enthusiasts to access a platform for creative learning
