Storm Henk is set to ramp up across southern England, the Midlands, East Anglia and Wales throughout the entire day, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. The Met Office has alerted travel operators to possible disruption, as the gales are expected to cause roof damage, possibly power cuts and general travel disruption. Mixtures of 60mph inland winds and up to 80mph coastal gusts are the prognostic, along with heavy rainfall which is predicted to cover much of Wales and England. The flood warnings from the Environment Agency have included more than 100 warnings and almost 200 alerts across the country.
 
The amber warning for wind lasts until 8pm, while the yellow warning for rain will cease by 9pm covering areas till Manchester and Hull. Unlike other storm watches, however, there was relatively little impact on flights. A spokeswoman for Heathrow airport has said that it had been “business as usual” after deciding to take precautions, such as changing parking stands and bringing in an airfield inspection every 30 minutes.
 
People living near coastal areas have been advised to stay away from large waves that may wash ashore, possibly sich situations could lead people towards danger. Homeowners and motorists have been told to take necessary precautions which include securing garden apparatus and keeping a low-speed limit due to the possibility of the wind also causing surface spray or water damage on the roads. 
 
On Wednesday, the storm will be heading over to northern mainland Europe, but there may still be remnants of it’s effect across the UK during blustery showers.
