A woman accused of killing her two children in the US has appeared in court in London for extradition proceedings. Kimberlee Singler, 35, was arrested in central London on Saturday where she remains in custody. Her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were found dead in their Colorado home on 19 December. Her 11-year-old daughter was also injured. Police issued an arrest warrant for Singler a week later.

Singler has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse, and one count of assault. Singler appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court where she was remanded in custody. She will next appear in court on 29 January.

The National Crime Agency said in a press release that its officers, from the National Extradition Unit, arrested a 35-year-old woman in Kensington on Saturday 30 December. She was wanted in the US for a range of offences, including murder and attempted murder.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said earlier that it had received a 911 call reporting a burglary at the address of the family at 00:29 local time on 19 December. Singler and her eldest daughter were injured and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. The force later decided that the initial report of a burglary was unfounded.

Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed that Singler was “arrested without incident” in the UK and said that a press conference to share more information about the case would be held in the future
