Boxing Day puzzler 2023: Mark Easton's festive family quiz

In the spirit of the holidays, the 16th Annual Festive Quiz by Mark Easton has returned, featuring questions relating to significant events from the year that has just passed. All questions in the quiz require a numerical response, and every team/player should write down their guesses before they are revealed. The nearest answer earns one point, and three points are awarded for a correct answer. The answers are provided below, and no additional information should be included aside from the questions presented.

Question 1 asks about the Caramac chocolate bar, which has been discontinued by Nestlé after 64 years, and in 1959 was priced at how many old pennies per bar. Question 2 involves the police crackdown on republican protests during the Coronation, leading to many arrests. Participants are asked how many people were charged with an offense during that event.

Question 3 involves the world record achieved by Susanne and Thomas Jeromin, who boast over 500 decorated Christmas trees in their home. Participants are asked how many trees were in their home. Question 4 involves football banning orders in place at the end of the 2022/23 season, with participants asked how many of these orders were against women.

Question 5 discusses a sold-out auction, in which a pair of Michael Jordan’s sneakers from the 1998 NBA finals were sold. Participants are asked to provide the selling price in US dollars. Question 6 involves the Guinness World Records Day of 2023, where Italian Rocco Mercurio attempted to balance many poker chips on one finger. The question asks how many poker chips were balanced.
