Charles Hanson, famous for his appearances on antiques shows such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, has been charged with actual bodily harm after an incident in Derbyshire. According to Derbyshire Police, Hanson has been charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of ABH, two counts of assault, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. The incident had occurred in Quarndon in June and the 45-year-old has been granted bail until his appearance in court on January 10.
Hanson is the founder of Hansons Auctioneers, based in Etwall, Derbyshire. The auction house has gained a reputation for holding a number of significant sales, including some relating to historical items. The auction house is proud of its reputation, having sold the famous Rolex watch belonging to actor Steve McQueen, among other high-profile items.
Hanson himself has been a regular on BBC antiques shows since making his debut on Bargain Hunt in 2002. He has since gone on to appear on Flog It! and other programs, where he has gained a reputation for his enthusiasm and knowledge of antiques. Up until this incident, Hanson was well known as a respected member of the antiques community.
