The secret ingredient for optimum health? Kindness, says this fitness expert

Eddie Jones, a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist, has developed an online health and wellness programme called The Kindness Revolution that encourages its participants to perform an act of kindness every day. The 12-week programme guides participants through easy-to-follow habits that help them lose weight sustainably and improve their relationship with food. The programme also aims to aid people in “coming off the dieting treadmill” and offers one-to-one email support for 30 people with the option to earn 50p back from the course cost for every act of kindness they perform.

Jones says the programme was inspired by the good that came as a result of his actions toward setting up a local litter-picking group. Participants in The Kindness Revolution programme track their acts of kindness with a weekly anonymous form submission. Almost 800 acts of kindness have been logged so far, and Jones uses this form to get an insight into the positive experiences of those involved. An article states that for Yates, who has reached her initial goals, the programme has been transformative. “It does stay with you. It’s up to me to apply it – but I have all the tools I need to go do it,” Yates said.

According to Eryn Barber, a coach from Manchester, the key to losing weight is sustainability and long-term thinking. Coaches who offer personalised plans and promote a healthy approach to fitness and food are the best options for anyone seeking support. Jones insists that participants should take a “progress, not perfection” mindset when it comes to the programme. While participants are encouraged to continue their progress, the programme acknowledges that perfection is not always attainable as life can get in the way. The Kindness Revolution encourages individuals to use self-kindness as fuel to achieve simple yet powerful habits that can lead to lasting results.

Jones’ new programme will launch in January, with spaces limited to just 30 people to allow for one-to-one email support. The waitlist is already open for those wanting to secure a spot early. By urging participants to perform an act of kindness every day, Jones hopes to shift the focus from weight loss to creating long-lasting changes that promote a healthier lifestyle
