The police have named the woman who tragically lost her life in the explosion that occurred in Treforest, south Wales. Danielle Evans’ body was discovered by the police during their search of Treforest Industrial Estate in Rhondda Cynon Taf last Wednesday evening. The police have officially announced that they will begin investigating the cause of the explosion and fire. Ms Evans was remembered and honored on social media, and floral tributes were placed at the location of the incident.
On Severn Road on Wednesday night, the “massive” blast occurred, which lead to the destruction of at least one building, and a major incident was declared soon after the incident. The fire occurred in a 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m) warehouse, which was called Rizla House and housed 13 commercial units, including a gym, a towel manufacturer, a food laboratory, and a telecoms service company. Emergency services were present at the scene on Thursday, and roads were closed following the explosion.
On Friday, one crew was still present at the scene. Matthew Virgin, who happened to be in the gym that was present at the time of the blast, expressed his devastation after hearing the news about the death of the victim. Virgin stated that “At the time I thought it was either an explosion or a helicopter had crashed into the road.”
