Norfolk Constabulary has found a body in the River Wensum, which they believe to be that of missing woman Gaynor Lord. Although the body has not yet been formally identified, Ms. Lord’s family has been informed. Searches from diving teams had been underway for several days before the discovery of the body this morning. Two members of the police dive team recovered the body from the river in Norwich after marking the water area with an orange buoy.
The 55-year-old mother of three went missing on Friday, July 16th, when her belongings were found scattered across Wensum Park in Norwich. A member of the public reported seeing a woman matching Ms. Lord’s description close to the river at around 4:00 pm GMT. CCTV footage later showed her leaving her workplace, Jarrolds department store in Norwich, where she worked as a retail assistant on a gin counter. She was seen to have left work more than an hour earlier than expected.
The police stated on Thursday that there was a “high probability” that Gaynor Lord had entered the water and that her disappearance was “out of character.” However, prior searches had focused on the river near Wensum Park. Ms. Lord’s family will continue to be supported by trained officers, according to Norfolk police.
