Next summer’s Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary, has announced its first wave of performers with four headlining acts. Fred again.., Sam Smith, Stormzy and Martin Garrix are the first phase of performers announced for the 2024 event. Additionally, 35 other performers such as Richie Hawtin, Honey Dijon, ARTBAT, Overmono, Ellen Allien, Chloé Caillet, Dom Dolla, and Amémé have confirmed their attendance. A large number of electronic artists will also perform, including Octa Octa & Eris Drew, Four Tet, and Nia Archives.
As one of the world’s largest music festivals, Sziget Festival has grown year-on-year since its inception in 1993. The first names announced for the 2024 festival include well-known international artists in various genres, from pop to electronic. Garrix has achieved much success in electronic dance music, topping the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll three times. Smith is a multiple Grammy winner, while Stormzy has been essential in the development of UK grime, having performed at the 2018 Brit Awards.
The festival organizers plan to add more acts and performances leading up to the event. Sziget Festival has become well-known for bringing a range of diverse performances, including theatre, circus and dance. Additionally, it has showcased Hungarian talent alongside international names. In 2018, it won Festival of the Year at the European Festival Awards.
