Princess of Wales brings her children to help families in poverty

The Princess of Wales, Catherine, accompanied her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to a baby bank in Holyport, Berkshire. The visit aimed to provide support for families that face poverty during the Christmas season. The royal children were taught about the importance of volunteering and helped to pick out presents and toys for the “baby bank’s” Christmas campaign, which aims to support about 1,600 children. The campaign focuses on providing pyjamas, chocolates, and toys for families that are unable to buy them due to financial constraints.

According to official data, Child Poverty Action Group reports that 4.2 million children live in poverty, and most of these come from working families. The charity serves as a resource for families with young children who are in need of support. About a quarter of UK families with children under the age of five are estimated to be living in poverty.

This visit by the Princess and her children brings to mind a similar trip made by Princess Diana when she brought Prince William and Prince Harry to visit the Passage homelessness charity. Prince William recalled the visit and mentioned how it shaped his own homelessness campaign. The focus on supporting families with young children is consistent with Catherine’s early years campaign, called Shaping Us.

The visit was recorded and shared through a Kensington Palace social media advertisement. The video concludes with a message to volunteers who give their time to the charity. The royal children got a chance to volunteer and learn about the power of charitable acts and the joy of giving back to others in need
