After launching a new appeal for information, a man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a local executive officer, Anthony Littler. Littler was attacked after leaving East Finchley Underground in North London in May of 1984. He was found in an alleyway with head injuries. Police have found a 58-year-old suspect, who was arrested on Sunday and later bailed until January, pending further inquiries.
Although evidence is scarce, detectives are primarily focusing on re-examining original statements. Therefore, the police are still in need of witnesses who might have seen the events leading up to Littler’s murder. Despite the lack of forensic evidence, the police remain hopeful that they can solve this cold case by re-examining statements from the original investigation.
Littler’s family has been waiting for 37 years for justice. They have stated that they cannot find closure until they know who the killer is. Det Ch Insp Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: “We cannot underestimate the impact of a murder on a family. Mr Littler’s murder has had a devastating impact on his loved ones, and they find it very difficult to live their lives without knowing who killed him.”
Although it’s been over three decades since this crime was committed, with new advances in forensic technology and up-to-date investigative techniques, there is hope that Littler’s family will finally receive closure and that justice will be served
