Parts of Wales are bracing themselves for strong winds that could cause travel disruption. The Met Office has issued a weather warning that will remain in place until midnight on Saturday. As well as the warnings from the Met Office, Natural Resources Wales has also issued a flood warning and 14 flood alerts. Gusts of 45 to 55mph are predicted the warnings cover all of Wales’ 22 local authority areas.
The trampoline, which was believed to have been lifted from a neighbouring garden by strong gusts, ended up blocking traffic on the B4275 on Saturday morning before coming to rest between two parked cars. Wrexham football game against Forest Green Rovers has been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Met Office warns there may be some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport services in addition to some short term loss of power. “If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves. Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea,” it advised. The warnings come just a few days after blizzards struck Scotland and other northern areas of the United Kingdom, resulting in the closure of numerous snow-hit roads.
The Met Office warns that some areas are still at risk of further snowfall, with rural communities being isolated. As per an agency representative, additional snow showers are expected to strike northern and eastern Scotland over the weekend. Northern Ireland and parts of northern England could see snow as well
