Hackney shooting: Boy charged over Lianne Gordon killing

A young boy aged 16 has been accused of murdering a woman who was shot dead in Hackney, East London. Lianne Gordon, 42, was shot outside a Lower Clapton house in an act of violence that occurred on Tuesday night. The sixteen-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning and charged on Saturday. As well as murder, the boy was charged with attempted murder on a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy. In addition, the serious allegations included possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession with intentions to supply Class A drugs.

The teenager in question is expected to appear before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on December 11th. The Met Police’s inquiries into the murder continue. Ms. Gordon was described as ‘loved in the community,’ and the local area is still in shock in response to the tragic events that took place.

The woman’s shooting is part of a surge in violent crime — across the capital the recent use of guns — is a growing concern. Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has pledged to provide further resources for youth services across London to assist in the fight against a rising level of violent crime. But, while the increase in violent crime rates continues to generate headlines, efforts continue to keep London’s young people safe.
