Moog has unveiled its new Mariana virtual duophonic soft-synth, which the company claims is a trailblazer in electronic sound design for the modern player and producer. This is Moog’s first synth launch since being acquired by audio equipment firm inMusic. Optimised for bass, Mariana is a dual-layer synthesiser that allows users to play two different sounds simultaneously. The two layers have two oscillators each with specific controls, and a sub-oscillator for additional weight in the low-end sounds. There are also two Moog filters and a third, sub-oscillator filter for each layer, providing warm and biting effects. Mariana’s FX section features chorus, delay, a separate saturation control, and a comprehensive compressor for main output and three envelopes.
The soft-synth’s user interface is designed to boost speed and efficiency. You can modulate nearly every parameter of Mariana through MIDI, MPE and virtual CV to develop an interconnected ecosystem in your digital audio workstation. Mariana can be used on an iPad, a standalone desktop application, or integrated seamlessly with your preferred DAW.
The Mariana programme has a unique design and is not the emulation of one of Moog’s legendary synths. Despite taking inspiration from Moog’s classics, Mariana is an original soft-synth that allows you to craft electronic music to your preferences. The VST is specifically designed to allow for quick fine-tuning of stereo content while preserving a powerful mono bass foundation, informed by classic Moog bass instruments such as the Minimoog Model D and Minitaur.
You can purchase Mariana here, and use it with your favourite digital audio workstation. If you’re looking for a modern soft-synth that is optimised for bass and innovative design, Mariana could be ideal
