Parklife Festival in Manchester has announced that it will be cutting ticket prices for its 2024 event, in a bid to make the festival more affordable for all music fans. The cost of a weekend ticket will be £125, down from £129.50. The festival has cited a desire to ensure music festivals are accessible for all as the reason behind the decision. Around 160,000 people are expected to attend Parklife in 2024, which will take place on June 8th-9th.
The announcement of the price cut has been accompanied by the news that Fisher and Chris Lake will be appearing together as Under Construction at the festival. The duo are set to perform a headline set at the festival’s Hangar stage, and it will be their only European performance of 2024. This exclusive show is shaping up to be one of the biggest electronic music events of the year.
The trend for festival ticket price increases has seen several major UK-based festivals such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Wireless Festival raise prices in 2023 by at least 17%. In contrast, the price cut from Parklife has been described as an “industry first”. This comes following record demand for tickets at the festival this year.
Further details regarding the line-up for the 2024 event have yet to be released. The full programme will be made public in January. Pre-sale tickets are already available for purchase, with general ticket sales scheduled to begin at 10am on Friday, December 8th.
As of right now, Manchester’s Parklife Festival is one of the only UK music festival to cut ticket prices as a way to increase accessibility to a wider audience. This move has been welcomed by music fans in the UK and beyond.
