The Royal Automobile Club (RAC) is warning that parts of the UK may experience hazardous road conditions, dubbed “ice rink Monday,” due to the refreezing of snow. The Met Office, on the other hand, has issued yellow weather alerts for ice in much of northern England. The warnings in place for both snow and ice span the higher parts of Wales and the Peak District, as well as eastern Scotland. The country has been experiencing freezing temperatures and snow over the past few days, causing widespread disruption to daily life and transportation.

He is urging drivers to exercise caution when travelling, leaving extra space behind the vehicle in front, reducing speed, and thoroughly de-icing and demisting their vehicles before setting out. The refreezing of the snow as temperatures fall overnight will cause some icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Southern regions are experiencing milder temperatures than previous days, with a warning for rain in place for parts of southern and southwest England. However, the cold air mass remains in the north, where wintry showers will bring some icy conditions overnight, as well as some accumulating snow inland.
Over the weekend, heavy snow caused disruption across Europe as well. Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic have been hit by train and flight cancellations. The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber health alert for cold weather as a result of the recent snow and low temperatures. Five central and northern regions in England are covered by the alert, with a yellow warning in place for four other regions, including London and southern and eastern England
